About TASC
At Teesside Ability Support Centre (TASC), we believe every adult with a disability deserves the opportunity to live a safe, fulfilling and meaningful life. As a registered charity based in Middlesbrough, we provide specialist day services that empower adults with complex disabilities to remain active, independent and connected to their community. Through compassionate support, therapeutic services and engaging activities, we create opportunities for our members to enjoy every day while achieving their own personal goals.
Supporting Our Community Since 1953
TASC’s story began in 1953, when a dedicated group of parents and supporters came together with a shared vision of improving opportunities for people living with disabilities. What started as a small local initiative has grown into a well-established charity that has supported generations of adults across the Tees Valley.
Our purpose has always remained the same: to provide high-quality support that enhances quality of life. Over the years, our services have evolved to meet the changing needs of our members while remaining focused on inclusion, independence and wellbeing. Today, TASC continues to build on this proud history, combining decades of experience with a forward-thinking approach to adult day services.
Our Mission, Vision and Values
Everything we do is guided by a simple but powerful mission: to be a Centre of Excellence that supports and empowers adults with disabilities to achieve a better quality of life.
Our vision is that every adult with a disability should have the opportunity to live a safe, meaningful and rewarding life. This ambition shapes every activity, therapy session and interaction across our centres.
Our values are at the heart of everything we do:
These principles influence the way we support our members, work alongside families and carers, and build lasting relationships within our local community.
Who We Support
TASC is proud to support almost one hundred adult members ranging in age from 19 to 72. Every individual has different abilities, interests and aspirations, and our personalised approach reflects this.
Our members include adults with physical disabilities, learning disabilities and complex additional needs. Some members are ambulant, while others use manual or powered wheelchairs. Many live with family members, while others live independently or within supported living environments across the Tees Valley.
Before joining TASC, we take time to understand each person’s individual needs, interests and goals. This allows us to create personalised support that encourages participation, promotes independence and helps every member make the most of their time with us.
More Than a Day Service
TASC is far more than a place to spend the day. We are a vibrant community where friendships are formed, confidence grows and every achievement is celebrated.
Our members enjoy a wide range of therapeutic services, creative activities, social events and opportunities to learn new skills. From hydrotherapy and Rebound Therapy to gardening, arts and crafts, cookery, music, sensory activities and community outings, every experience is designed to support physical health, emotional wellbeing and social inclusion.
One phrase captures our approach perfectly:
“We don’t do boring at TASC.”
We believe that enjoyment and purpose go hand in hand. Every activity has been carefully chosen to help members remain active, engaged and connected while having fun in a supportive environment.
A Charity Built Around People
The dedication of our experienced staff, volunteers, trustees and supporters has helped TASC become a place where people feel valued, respected and encouraged to achieve their potential.
We work closely with families, carers, healthcare professionals and local organisations to ensure every member receives the highest standard of support. By listening to those we serve and continually developing our services, we remain committed to making a lasting difference to the lives of adults with disabilities throughout Middlesbrough and the wider Tees Valley.
