Activities
At Teesside Ability Support Centre (TASC), we believe that every day should be enjoyable, purposeful and filled with opportunities to learn, connect and have fun. Our programme of activities has been carefully designed to support adults with disabilities through experiences that encourage physical activity, creativity, social interaction and personal development.
Every activity is adapted to meet the needs of our members, ensuring everyone can participate, develop new skills and enjoy meaningful experiences in a safe, welcoming environment.
As we like to say:
"We don't do boring at TASC."
Activities That Make Every Day Different
No two days at TASC are ever the same. Our varied programme gives members the opportunity to explore new interests, build confidence and spend time with friends while supporting their overall wellbeing.
Regular activities include:
By offering such a diverse range of activities, members can discover new hobbies, revisit favourite pastimes and enjoy experiences that are both rewarding and enjoyable.
Supporting Physical and Mental Wellbeing
Every activity at TASC has a purpose. While our sessions are designed to be engaging and enjoyable, they also contribute to better physical health, emotional wellbeing and greater independence.
Creative activities encourage self-expression and confidence, while physical activities help maintain mobility, balance and coordination. Group sessions provide valuable opportunities to build friendships, strengthen communication skills and develop a sense of belonging.
This combination of physical, social and creative experiences helps members stay active while supporting their overall quality of life.
Encouraging Independence and Confidence
Participating in meaningful activities gives people the opportunity to make choices, develop new skills and achieve personal goals.
Whether someone is learning a new recipe during cookery sessions, developing computer skills through IT training or growing plants in the garden, every achievement helps build confidence and encourages greater independence.
Our experienced staff provide support where it is needed while encouraging members to take an active role in each activity. This person-centred approach allows everyone to participate in ways that suit their own abilities and interests.
Building Friendships and Community
Many of the strongest memories made at TASC come from the friendships developed through shared experiences.
Activities provide natural opportunities for members to meet new people, work together and enjoy spending time in a welcoming, inclusive environment. Seasonal celebrations, themed events and community outings help members remain connected with the wider community while creating enjoyable experiences throughout the year.
These social opportunities play an important role in reducing isolation, improving confidence and helping members feel part of something special.
Activities Designed Around Our Members
No two members are the same, which is why our activities are adapted to suit different abilities, interests and support needs.
Our team continually develops the programme to ensure members have access to new experiences while maintaining favourite activities they already enjoy. We listen to our members, encourage their ideas and involve them in shaping activities wherever possible.
By putting members at the centre of everything we do, we create a programme that is inclusive, engaging and genuinely meaningful.
